Kevin Henderson is one of the most exciting young fiddlers on the world stage, and is in hot demand as he performs around the globe with five acclaimed musical groups: Shetland group Fiddlers’ Bid; Celtic group Boys of the Lough; Scottish group Session A9; Nordic trio The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc and Shetland/Norway trio Aamos. Henderson has been featured on 15 albums. He has appeared on television and radio programs worldwide, including the BBC and many appearances on NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion” .
Henderson is a native of the Shetland Islands, home of one of the richest fiddling traditions in the world. He was inspired by his grandfather to start playing at age nine, and studied briefly under highly renowned Shetland fiddler Trevor Hunter before going onto to study with Willie Hunter, arguably Shetlands finest ever fiddler. Within two years he was winning fiddling competitions, and was a consistent prizewinner in the Shetland’s Young Fiddler of the Year competition.
At the age of 14, Henderson was ready to take the next step in the music world, and co-founded the Shetland ensemble, Fiddlers’ Bid. He has since toured extensively with the group across the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and Japan.
Join Kevin and the Scottish Fiddlers the evening of April 8, 2017 at the Hermosa Beach Community Theatre. Tickets on sale January 1.
